My Journey to Health Coaching
My Journey to Health Coaching: From Burnout to Balanced Living
I didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a health coach. In fact, for years I was someone who pushed herself hard, lived on adrenaline, and wore exhaustion like a badge of honor.
At the same time, I had always been interested in fitness, health, and wellness. For a long time, I thought I could balance the two—taking care of my health while continuing to push myself to do more.
Gradually, though, my energy began to slip. My mindset began to shift, too. I wasn’t sure how to think about myself if I wasn’t pushing hard, accomplishing things, and balancing everything that came my way.

When “Pushing Through” Stopped Working
I believed that success meant saying yes, staying late, and ignoring the signals my body was sending. Stress was “normal.” Afternoon crashes were “just part of the job.” Sunday nights were filled with dread about the week ahead.
I told myself I was fine, but my energy, mood, and confidence told a different story.
As I began to feel the effects of the way I was living, I found myself sick more often and feeling as though I was letting myself—and others—down.
Eventually, I began asking a different question:
What if I didn’t have to feel this way all the time?
Discovering the Power of Lifestyle Change
I didn’t overhaul everything overnight. I started with my mindset.
I learned to practice mindfulness. I discovered the power of saying no and creating space to be present for myself and the people around me. I began giving myself permission to be less than perfect.
The changes were subtle, but they mattered. I felt less driven by the need to constantly accomplish something and less overwhelmed by stress. I began creating space to be more intentional about how I spent my time and what was truly important to me.
Small, consistent choices began to change not only what I did, but how I approached my life.

How Health Coaching Entered My Story
My wellness journey wasn’t a straight line. Even after making meaningful changes, I still faced challenges and setbacks. I reached out for support in several places and began to appreciate something that would eventually become central to the way I think about health: each person is different.
There isn't one approach that works for everyone.
Around that same time, a family member became a health coach, giving me my first close look at health coaching and the difference supportive, individualized guidance could make.
I didn’t immediately imagine health coaching as a profession for myself. In fact, other people first suggested that it might be something I would enjoy and do well.
The idea intrigued me.
Here was a profession centered not on telling people what they should do, but on helping them explore what matters to them, recognize their strengths, work through obstacles, and turn intentions into realistic steps that fit their lives.
It wasn’t about one-size-fits-all programs or quick fixes. It was about partnership, curiosity, and support.
So I enrolled in a health coaching certification program.
As I learned and practiced skills such as active listening, asking meaningful questions, goal setting, and accountability, I began to see the power of the coaching process more clearly. Things that can feel overwhelming when we're trying to figure them out alone often become more manageable when we have the space and support to think them through.
I saw how valuable it could be to have someone listen, ask questions, help uncover strengths, and keep the focus on what matters most.
From Personal Journey to Supporting Others
Becoming a health coach felt like a natural extension of both my own experience and my desire to help others.
I knew what it was like to feel stuck, tired, and unsure where to begin. I also knew the difference that small, realistic changes could make over time.
Today, when I work with clients, we focus on the whole picture. Health isn't just about what we eat or how much we exercise. Sleep, stress, connection, mindset, movement, and nutrition can all influence how we feel and how we live.
We explore where you are now, what you would like to be different, what may be getting in the way, and what matters most to you. From there, we identify realistic steps that fit your life—not an idealized version of it.
My role isn't to tell someone how to live. It's to create space for reflection, curiosity, and discovery and to support clients as they find their own path forward.

An Invitation to Your Own Next Step
If something in my story feels familiar, you don’t have to wait for a crisis to begin thinking differently about your health and well-being.
Your first step doesn't have to be dramatic. It might be taking a ten-minute walk, getting to bed a little earlier, reconnecting with someone you care about, or simply pausing long enough to ask yourself:
What do I need right now?
Small choices can become meaningful changes when they are connected to what matters to you.
And if you'd like support along the way, health and wellness coaching can give you a place to explore what you want, experiment with new approaches, learn from what works—and what doesn't—and decide what your next step will be.
Your path doesn't have to look like mine.
It just needs to work for you.
